They are:
\n
\n
Keeping business app integrations up-to-date
\n
\n
Centralized user administration and single sign-on require building integrations with various applications and tracking the maintenance specifications for advanced versions of every application. Also, for several enterprises, making the IT team manage its compilation of application integration in a continually evolving landscape can be inefficient and unrealistic.
\n
Also, when it comes to application integration, every new vendor may need a new approach, especially related to user authentication and management. This is why businesses must use the best CIAM solution to warrant that their application integration always remains functional and up to date.
\n
\n
Lack of insight into best practices and sub-optimal utilization
\n
\n
One principal reason for the exponential rise of cloud-based SaaS applications is that recurrent subscription models have substituted the upfront bulk payment of the conventional, on-premises software license acquisition. However, with no centralized insight into the usage of these applications, financial and IT managers cannot control these subscription acquisitions. Also, they might hold no or little idea whether they are spending more than they use. This is where cloud-based top CIAM solutions for retail help businesses get better visibility into software utilization and help your IT team optimize the enterprise SaaS subscription.
\n
\n
Different management models for diverse applications
\n
\n
When looking at the top trends in CIAM solutions, it becomes evident that cloud-based applications become more convenient and less costly to get executed. However, it can likewise create new challenges for an IT team as there is no central point to manage applications and users or present analytics and reports.
\n
\n
Lack of compliance\n
\n
\n
A business must conduct all its activities as per the applicable regulations, laws and in conformance with in-house rules and guidelines. Visibility regarding compliance likewise pertains to the highest degree for CIAM (Customer Identity and Access Management). Moreover, an organization must comprehend who holds access to business data and apps, who has granted this access and how it gets employed.
\n
\n
Employees get confused between several passwords
\n
\n
Even though the SaaS business models make it more comfortable for users to access and manage their business applications, the rise in complexity of this method corresponds to the expansion in applications. Also, every application holds separate password controls and expiration periods.
\n
The diversity of password controls coupled with different expiration times can lead to a poor user experience. Moreover, your employees also require more time to manage, remember, and reset these constantly changing passwords and access permissions in their applications.
\n
\n
Incompetent onboarding and defective offboarding
\n
\n
Usually, the IT team grants an employee access to the file server, corporate network, email account etc., when a new employee joins a company. However, since multiple SaaS applications get administered at a departmental level, access gets rendered by a person responsible for the application and not the IT department. This can point to a fragmented process and employee dissatisfaction. A good CIAM can get the job done efficiently.
\n
Also Read: The ABCs of a Successful Saas Onboarding Process
\n
\n
Siloed user lists for every application
\n
\n
Many companies have made a notable investment in a corporate directory to control access to on-premises system resources. As businesses adopt cloud-based assistance, they must leverage this investment and move it to the cloud rather than building an identical list and access control support for new SaaS applications.
\n
\n
Controlling access across different browsers and devices
\n
\n
One of the surpassing advantages of cloud applications is that admittance is obtainable from any device over the internet. However, more apps mean more URLs, passwords and devices. Hence, IT teams must provide and control access across several devices without jeopardizing security that can be difficult with existing systems.
\n
Conclusion
\n
To summarize, we can say that a cloud-based CIAM service should present accurate visibility of user access. This also increased the number of online transactions more than ever before.
\n
We’re on the verge of utilizing cashless payment methods for almost everything. Be it purchasing groceries online or paying bills, everything can be done online with just a few clicks.
\n
But, we can’t ignore the threat that’s hidden underneath the comfort of performing online transactions. Numerous businesses witnessed a sudden surge of payment-related frauds that not only caused financial losses for their clients but eventually tarnished their brand image.
\n
Users don’t want to re-engage with an online brand that offered them a poor transaction experience. Apart from this, the ones with ruptured brand image also suffer from the same.
\n
The sudden increase in the number of transaction-related security breaches is undeniably pointing towards the need for a robust security mechanism that can help build consumer trust on online platforms offering diverse services.
\n
Here’s where a robust CIAM (consumer identity and access management) solution can be a game-changer. Many people think that adding a robust layer of security would certainly hamper consumer experience and negatively impact the overall consumer onboarding journey.
\n
Enterprises that believe in putting their best foot forward in securing transactions on their web application and websites mostly ignore one of the key elements that keep them far from attracting consumers and repeat buyers.
\n
That one thing is the consumer experience backed with robust security.
\n
Yes, one needs to create a perfect harmony between user experience and security to ensure they have consumer revisits and get more new consumers into the sales funnel.
\n
This can be achieved by leveraging a consumer identity and access management (CIAM) solution like LoginRadius.
\n
The cutting-edge technology coupled with excellent user experience right from the beginning when your consumers first interact with your brand helps build consumer trust that guarantees conversion.
\n
Moreover, the best-in-class security that comes with the LoginRadius Identity Platform lets you assure your consumers of how vigilant you are about data privacy and security.
\n
How LoginRadius Paves the Path for Rich Consumer Experience Balanced with Security?
\n
LoginRadius is the leading CIAM solution provider that helps brands secure their identities and online transactions through innovative solutions that improve user experience without compromising security.
\n
An identity system or identity management system is an information system or a group of technologies working together to ensure the right individual has access to the right resources.
\n
Moreover, an identity system or a consumer identity and access management (CIAM) system helps businesses secure millions of consumer identities on their platform to offer a robust mechanism that prevents data breach.
\n
A CIAM solution also offers valuable insights into a consumer’s behavior, which further allows businesses to tailor their marketing and onboarding strategies.
\n
<img 3-3.5S14.5 6 13 6z\">Role of Identity System Customization
\n
Since we have a fair knowledge of identity systems, let’s understand how customization can be a game-changer for achieving business goals through an identity system.
\n
We all come across different personalization experiences whenever we purchase goods from online marketplaces.
\n
Whether it’s Amazon suggesting a pair of running shoes when you purchase sports shorts or Netflix suggesting you a series based on your preferences, personalization is undeniably the key to push consumers to the sales funnel.
\n
However, the actual game begins in the first couple of seconds whenever an individual interacts with a brand for the first time.
\n
Yes, enterprises need to understand the importance of the onboarding process, which, if personalized adequately, can do wonders for their brand.
\n
Let’s understand this thing with an example.
\n
Imagine a user lands on a website and thinks about signing up. The website asks for a long list of details for the signup procedure.
\n
The user somehow manages to fill the enormous signup form (although around 80% of users will switch at this moment).
\n
Now the website, after the signup process, again asks for specific information. This information would be used to deliver a personalized experience but would undoubtedly hamper the user experience.
\n
The remaining users would now switch platforms.
\n
Here’s where an identity management solution like LoginRadius comes into play.
\n
The innovative CIAM solution leverages progressive profiling that gradually collects user information and automatically delivers personalized journeys and thus reducing fatigue and improving signup rates and conversions.
\n
How LoginRadius Offers Competitive Edge to Businesses?
\n
Let’s learn how LoginRadius helps brands deliver a flawless customized experience that increases conversions and improves lead generation rates.
\n
\n
Personalized Experiences: Bring in more revenue through LoginRadius that offers a great personalized experience. Advanced CIAM solutions like LoginRadius use adaptive multi-factor authentication (MFA), which considers critical parameters such as location, the hour of the day, and gadgets to authenticate users. It promotes even greater password security by requiring additional verification for high-risk password resets.
\n
Digital Consumer Interactions that are Seamless and Trustworthy: Many businesses have numerous online apps and interfaces. You can create a seamless customer experience by connecting all of your platforms with a single CIAM solution like LoginRadius: A single point of entry for all applications. To do this, create a
Landing.js
file in your
src
folder and input the following code:
\n

import { useLRAuth } from "loginradius-react";\n\nconst Auth = () => {\n\nconst {isAuthenticated,loginWithRedirect,logout } =  useLRAuth();\n  if (isAuthenticated) {\n    return (\n      <div>\n        <button onClick={() => logout()}>\n          Log out\n        </button>\n      </div>\n    );\n  } else {\n    \n    return <button onClick={() => loginWithRedirect("/login")}>Login/Register</button>;\n\n  }\n}; \n\nexport default Auth;

\n
In the code written above, you've used
loginWithRedirect
,
loginWithPopup
, and
logout
authentication methods from the
useLRAuth
hook in your components to set up the authentication flow within your React application. The
isAuthenticated
method is used to check if the user is already logged into the app; it true, it returns true and displays a
log out
button that is connected to a logout function. You can use this method to check if a user is a client or administrator. Whenever a user creates an account using the form, the user is assigned a unique user-id called
Uid
, which you can view in your dashboard under \"manage users\". You can reference this user-id to determine your users’ roles. To do this, you need to fetch and return the
Uid
of the current user. The fetch request for the user role requires the
Uid
and your
app secret key
as parameters within the URL.
\n
In your
src
folder, create a file name
setResp
to check if you have received a response from the API. A constant
user
was made to use the
LAuth
method to get the current user data, and then the next line gets the id of the current user. The
useeffect
React hook that runs after the render contains an asynchronous function is used to fetch the role of the current user
uid
. It returns the data and outputs it in JSON form, which value is given to
SetResp
. Else, it throws an error if the fetch request fails.
\n
Since it is an asynchronous function, the code below it runs while fetching and awaiting a response.
resp
is false during this time while waiting for the result of the asynchronous function. Therefore, it outputs \"Loading...\" on the screen until the async returns the data that it then outputs.
\n
The last code block:
export
is simply used to show \"Loading...\" on the screen during redirecting.
\n
Running the Code
\n
You can run the present code by
cd
into your parent directory and running:
\n

npm start

\n
When it successfully starts the server, you would have a similar page as follows:
\n

\n
This is the landing page you've built in the
Auth
component and is your
/
path in your routes within
App.js
. Upon creation of an account, you get directed to the login page, where you can sign in using the credentials of the created account. Authentication was carried out on the parameters in the input field by the LoginRadius API set up in the Auth Page.
\n
Your user authentication is carried out by the API. This checks the input details against the registered user details. If any input not matching this is put in the form, you'll get an alert \"user does not exist\" upon clicking the login button. returned an array containing the user email. To get the email specifically, you've created another variable
emailmain
which gets the value at a particular array position containing the user email.
\n
The
async
request block has now been modified to check if the user email being used for logging in is equivalent to a particular email which you've declared. Alternatively, you can have your emails pulled from a database and assign the admin roles to the ones you want. The else block assigns a client role to emails that do not meet the first criteria. When you create a new account with an email similar to what I have in the
if block
, that is admin@example.com; when rerouted to the
/login
path, you'll discover that the role of admin was assigned while any other email will have the client role assigned upon login. The return statement returns the user id of the logged-in user, the email, and then the role in a JSON format. The output would be similar to the following:
\n

\n
Conclusion
\n
This tutorial covered:
\n
\n
Setting up LoginRadius with a React app
\n
Using the setup to authenticate users and assigning specific roles with different privileges
\n
\n
These privileges can be used to give users certain permissions as to what they can do on your website.
\n
LoginRadius is a great tool and is easy to implement if you want to implement authentication in your application.
\n
A working version of the code used in this tutorial is available on Github.
\n","frontmatter":{"date":"September 03, 2021","updated_date":null,"description":"This tutorial illustrates how to perform user authentication and assign roles to users in React apps using LoginRadius.","title":"How to Implement Role-Based Authentication with React Apps","tags":["Authentication","React","User Roles"],"pinned":null,"coverImage":{"childImageSharp":{"fluid":{"aspectRatio":1.5037593984962405,"src":"/static/f67613d9df4f2b44e8700d779302109e/58556/coverImage.webp","srcSet":"/static/f67613d9df4f2b44e8700d779302109e/61e93/coverImage.webp 200w,\n/static/f67613d9df4f2b44e8700d779302109e/1f5c5/coverImage.webp 400w,\n/static/f67613d9df4f2b44e8700d779302109e/58556/coverImage.webp 800w,\n/static/f67613d9df4f2b44e8700d779302109e/99238/coverImage.webp 1200w","sizes":"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px"}}},"author":{"id":"Victory Tuduo","github":"Victory-ET","avatar":null}}}},{"node":{"excerpt":"The authentication services market is seeing enormous growth in recent times and is only projected to increase. A user can do so by disclosing certain details like login credentials which are only privy to the user and the authenticating party. When they do so, the authenticating party will cross verify if the details provided by the user align or match with the details in an on-premises directory.
\n
Almost every website uses some form of authentication service to allow users to access the data they have to offer. In recent times, authentication services have seen implementation on the cloud which is now known as Authentication-as-a-service. AaaS makes it possible for organisations to control the access of users to applications through services like multi-factor authentication, single sign-on and password management, all in the cloud.
\n
The Segmentation of the Authentication Services Market
\n
The analysis of the authentication services market takes place after segmenting it on the basis of its types. The reason for this growth is due to the following reasons:
\n
\n
Increase in ransomware attacks:
\n
\n
In 2020 alone, there were around 304 million ransomware attacks worldwide. This was a 62% increase from the previous year. Even tech giants like Microsoft became victims of ransomware attacks. For this reason, enterprises have implemented a variety of authentication tools for extra protection.
\n
\n
Adoption of cloud:
\n
\n
The amount of data that enterprises and organisations are deploying over the cloud is increasing exponentially. For this reason, the vulnerability of data loss through hacking is increasing as well.
\n
\n
Change in working conditions:
\n
\n
Most employees also work from home. Therefore, causing gaps in the existing cybersecurity protocols that enterprises may have like unsecured devices and more. For this reason, authentication services make it possible for enterprises to plug these gaps.
\n
Of the many technologies that authentication services have to offer, Multi-factor authentication is seeing more adoption in comparison to others. This is because:
\n
\n
Outdated authentication options
\n
\n
Before the advent of advanced authentication services, users were only protected through passwords. The unauthorised sharing of passwords became the most common cause of data breaches. For this reason, multi-factor authentication or MFA acts as a more stringent form of login security.
\n
\n
Advanced MFA
\n
\n
This form of authentication can combine with other technologies like authentication applications, biometric technologies and more for better protection.
\n
According to analysis, from a geographical standpoint, North America will be the most prominent contributor. To be more precise, the United States is most likely to adopt authentication services in comparison to any other country. This is because of the increased use of devices and the storage of data on electronic databases.
\n
Therefore, authentication services have a lot to offer every sector possible, from healthcare to even defense. It is essentially the future of login security and will play an important role in reducing ransomware attacks.
\n

\n","frontmatter":{"date":"September 02, 2021","updated_date":null,"description":"Authentication services have a lot to offer every sector possible, from healthcare to even defense.
